Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How does it benefit talent, to register with Talent Scan?

A: Talent Scan offers a master database of registered talent working in the film industry. Having a Talent Scan card assists in faster signing in and out. It gives coordinators on set quick access to essential information and vital contact details in case of an emergency. Talent will have one card to use at castings, commercials, series and features. Eventually talent will be able to manage their own profile, assisting them to get more work. Talent Scan is a platform that showcases registered talent to agencies, producers, casting directors or anyone booking talent, sending the information directly to agents.

Q: What if the card is lost?

A: Talent can be signed manually onto the system. If someone loses their card, or forgets it, they can still be signed in. A lost card can easily be replaced; a replacement fee will apply.

Q: Will the talent keep the card, or will it be handed back to the Cast Coordinator at wrap?

A: Each talent will be issued with their own card to keep and will have it on hand for their next job.

Q: Sometimes talent arrives long before call time and sometimes they leave late or early. How will this be managed to avoid paying overtime?

A: Online runlists are created that include talent call times. If talent signs in earlier than the specified call time, the time will be reflected as the specified call time. If they sign in late, the actual sign-in time is reflected to ensure correct remuneration.

Q: Will the standard cast coordinator day fee be adjusted?

A: If a cast-coordinator works for the duration of the job on a full-day basis, they will receive the full-day fee. If the coordinator runs a team which only assists with sign-in, a half-day rate will apply for half-day work.

Q: Must the talent agencies log details onto the system (updated sizes, ages, contact details etc)?

A: Currently Talent Scan staff logs all details free of charge for the agencies. Once Phase 4 development has been completed, talent will be able to maintain their profiles and update their data - thus no extra work for agencies.

Q: Will the casting director on the project be involved in the process?

A: All departments involved with talent are able to use Talent Scan for a variety of functions suited to and designed for the film industry - from start of job to completion.
